I agree, but then I value unpredictability and seeing marginal things occasionally pay off. But clearly there are different preferences, as some like--even love--the much more predictable, staid, perhaps chess-like experience at 2p.


The main thing about 4p/5p is that it isn’t great if anyone at the table is new. As some folks will only get one action per round and there’s more going on, experienced people are necessary to minimize downtime and make it more “organized chaos” rather than just weird chaos. This is also where coke/steel becomes slightly less a factor, as with so many players it is hard to do it a lot so you need more supplemental ways to get points. It’s actually really interesting I think at higher player counts.
