OK - that makes sense, thanks. I'll think about it a bit more but I think we'll give it a go and see how we get on. I guess we'll try 10 rounds as that makes the turns equal and it'll also reduce the food requirements as we would need more in the last couple rounds which we'll miss out.

Ah, I've read the rules now and I see for 5 players in a shortened game it says 15 rounds. That does make sense as it'll even out the number of turns nicely. I suspect that we would still be short of time to play that many so perhaps we'll try just 10 and see how it goes. Last time when we had to cut it short I noticed that we didn't get enough of the buildings into the game so I did think of less rounds, but adding a couple of extra rounds that end with the town constructing a building, just to make sure we get more built during the game.
If I'm lucky and have time tonight (the main game in tomorrow) I might try a solo 5 player game to see how it works over 10 rounds. At least if I've tried it I'll have an idea how it goes and if its even possible. I'd say the perfect solution would be to start a 15 round game and then after say 8 rounds change to 10 rounds if we're running late. That works nicely for timing and I don't think should effect the game too much. (I hope)
