Lets be fair, this is more of an issue in La Havre than in most games. There really are red herring strategies that an experienced player will never take. One could argue they exist to supplement a stage of the game, but even this I'm not sure (and knowing when to transition feels more like intuiting a hidden design pathway more so than other euros, in my experience).
Le Havre makes one feel like there is a designer ordained path to victory, and part of the game is decrypting this singular pathway hidden within the mechanics.
That said, it only really becomes a problem if sessioning with players of mixed familiarity.
I really like Le Havre, but this is the issue that keeps it from being my #1.
