Thread: Le Havre:: General:: Effects of an early Dunny in a game?

by davypi

I just acquired the 12 card promo pack in a trade an a rules question kind of came to mind. At this point its hypothetical, but I'm still curious....

Its possible for the hardware store, brickworks, and business office to appear on the same stack (or no hardware in a 2P game). The Dunny could appear as early as the fourth round of the game and end up covering both of these buildings. This would be a significant hinderance because the dunny requires brick and such a placement would block access to buildings you need to get said brick.

I'm mostly curious to know if this has ever happened to anyone and how the game played out. After checking the building reference, I did note that buying the Dunny is a possible action, so the game wouldn't completely blocked. It seems like this would be a major game changer if it were to happen. I don't think I would want to be the person who buys it off the stack because there is no point gain by doing so. Time spent acquiring the 14 dollars is time lost gathering more valuable resources. Other players would benefit by being able to build from other stacks while you were busy "stalling" by gathering money. I suppose, eventually, the city would also build it off, but this also means three rounds of stagnation.
