There's only two choices of edition, German or Australian. If they don't specify German then you should be fine.

Most of the "big" olgs' have copies in stock right now: Cool Stuff Inc, Thought Hammer (specifically, one in ding and dent), Miniature Market, and Fair Play Games. All of these should be the proper version. You can double check, but they looked right to me.

Thanks, I thought there were more older editions floating around and was mostly trying to avoid them. It seems I was wrong and that anything I can buy is going to be the new edition. I am most likely going to use Amazon ("Prime" shipping is tough to beat), the problem is I can't tell if it's the new edition or not, but it seems from what everyone here is saying that it likely is.

Sorry, if the OP wasn't clear enough, I was in a rush at the time...

Just a Curious Q, of what kind of time frame it will be before this game comes out?

We might have this game ready for SPIEL this year. If Klemens finds enough time for the illustrations.

Are any other details released about this game? I am VERY interested! :)

Maybe Google has been spending too much time trying to keep Android afloat to work on their translate service, but their translations are still poor. I discovered and used the relatively new Microsoft translator on this and it seems fine.

*edit* Why is BGG mangling the URL? Some sort of redirection code? I even tried code tags and it still mangles. Anyway, just paste the article URL into the website.

There are quite a few interesting comments in this article.

Tannery was given the limit of 4x to encourage players to hoard cattle. Smokehouse was given the limit of 6x to give a target number for players to acquire.

Meat was given a value less than cattle so as to not make using the Slaughterhouse an obvious choice. Iron was given a relatively low value to encourage the use of it, instead of shipping it, to keep the game interesting. The same with bricks.

The subsidies (francs awarded when converting goods) are there to help balance the value for each good against its energy and acquisition cost.

The name could be using names of 2 neighborhood of the city.

Exemple:

Le Havre : Leure vs Sanwic

Or any variation with Leure,Sanwic,Graville,Caucriauville,Rouelles, Aplemont, Ingouville. (Presumably some might be more historically relevant.)

Tried to put this all together, with Eng versions. Says all the image parts are 'broken' (except the "classes" zip). Double clicking the main jar only opens to a meta inf folder. Did make the 2 files, that were omitted, beforehand. Ideas? Thanks.

You need to un-rar the images. Did you do that? What OS do you use?

My understanding from reading threads in this forum was that before the latest edition hit stores it was almost impossible to find the earlier eddition. So I think it's pretty unlikely you'll find an earlier one.

If using lots of different resources to build things and make money sounds fun to you, then you will like Le Havre.

Looking at many reviews and comments, it seems there are many people who like one of these games and not the other.

So, I would spend time looking at the reviews (vs. liking Agricola) to get an idea of how much you will enjoy it.

I happen to like both games. While they share some mechanics and are both well desgined, they are very different games.

It depends what you like about Agricola. In Le Havre, you take turns collecting resources, building and activating buildings. It's not really that similar to Agricola.

I more or less stopped playing Agricola once I got Le Havre. Seems a lot less frustrating than Agricola. But that's just me. If someone said "Let's play Agricola!" I wouldn't hesitate. But point me to a shelf with the two games on it and I would reach for Le Havre first.

Yes.

...or, read/watch some of the reviews and videos. I played Agricola before La Havre. I think I prefer Le Havre. The newest edition (the only one that retailers will have, I believe) also comes with the expansion, provided more building diversity! I really doubt that big fans of Agricola would dislike this game.
