No question. Agricola would be less prone to AP.

FWIW, I don't like Agricola and I really like Le Havre.

Just curious...why don't you like Agricola? (I've never played it, so no bias on my part)

Because even though I have an Oven and Wheat, I *apparently* have to get permission to bake bread. Whereas the family down the street can slaughter animals, including the family pet!, at end time and without it costing as an action.

Le Havre is great with 2 players. In fact, I wouldn't recommend playing with much more than 2, as I feel that it starts to get way too long. But definitely a favorite with 2 players.

This is curious to me as the total number of actions per game does not change. With more players, each player just gets fewer actions. Most games I know of that utilize this do not seem to be affected much by changes in play count. That said, I only have experience playing Le Havre with 2 or 3.

Le Havre is definitely better with 3 than 2, but still good with 2. Agricola is probably better with 3 or 4 but I think the 2P game is also excellent and Agricola's action spaces and resource limitations make for very different and unique games at each player count

A couple of weeks back I posted about my cat-damaged supply tile. Are Marked Supply Tiles a Problem?
I contacted Lookout's customer service and offered to purchase the tile, but they replaced it for FREE! That's not all, they bundled in 3 promo cards from Agricola and Le Havre! wow
What a company. Thank you, Lookout Games.

Anyone know if there is going to be another re-print sometime soon?

(forum search showed topics from a year ago)

Thanks for the info, and sorry if this is common knowledge.

Just curious why you'd ask about a reprint when the game appears to be readily available? (At least here in America; don't know where you are.)

In Canada

My local game store has no prints, the online stores i shop at have no prints and the ones i can get from eBay are scary expensive after shipping.

There is one seller on amazon but is charging $20 more then the place i normally order from charges. (and its the print without the expansion, i think... the print with the expansion is on amazon for $120)

Perhaps its just where i am located but it feels like the only way i can get the game is to spend 1.5x to 2x the game cost.

Ahh, yes. Now I see. I hadn't thought of that. I still think you should be able to sell your own building in another players round, just not for the purpose of rebuying it yourself.

Minor point I think.

Thread: Le Havre:: General:: Custom Board

I've made a custom board which I've modeled it after the IOS version.

Why I've done this.. I LOVE Le Havre, but frankly, the board doesn't work for our group. We just end up piling all of the resources in piles around the board and then all of that space on the board is wasted. Stacking them just didn't work at all. I've seen some of the solutions here on BGG (various containers), but this is my attempt at a solution. I'm also not a fan of the 3 separate board pieces as well.

Basically, until Lookout makes a Deluxe version of Le Havre(ahem.. which I would GLADLY pay for), this is my attempt to fix some of the board's problems.

Anyway, feedback is appreciated.

Hello. I don't want to push any one store over another, but have you tried contacting 401 Games in Toronto? Don't they ship outside of their area?

That's where I found my copy a while back, at under $50 Canadian. It could be that they are out but contacting them might inspire them to order more.

Snakes and Lattes in Toronto says on their website they are awaiting restock.

Thanks, i am in Saskatoon and we have only 1 good game shop, the owner thinks he may restock in 2-3 months but is not sure on that (its on order). The store I order from online when my LGS does not have it is germangames.com and they said they wont have it for 2-3months at the very least as well... this lead me to think that the latest printing is sold out... I might try giving 401 games a call if you think they ship (no online store).

Its real frustrating when you spend several weeks reading reviews and what not finally deciding its a game worth getting only to not be able to find it at a price you can stomach.

401 is sold out as well, and they have no idea when there supplier will get it in...

only way to get it in Canada appears to be to pay an outrageous price for it.

Thread: Le Havre:: Rules:: Taking Loans

Hey, my friends and I just picked up Le Havre, and we got through a game last weekend. It seemed as if we had the rules down pretty well, but we also grabbed the application for our iPhones just for fun, and also to see if we were doing things correctly. We may have run into problems with our loans.

We understood the rule to be that if you couldn't feed your workers, then you gave all that you could. Then you received a Loan Card, and four francs, and that was the end of it. This allows for some abuse, but seemed to be what we read.

However, when we were playing on our iPhones, it took what you had, issued a loan and four francs, and then took however many francs were needed to finish the feeding. This messed up my turn, but more importantly, it made me question how it was actually supposed to work.

I see some discussion on variants in here, but we are really just interested in finding out how it is actually supposed to work based on the original rules. Any help would be appreciated.

You misunderstood the rules. The iOS app is correct. If the feeding phase leaves you short of food/cash, you take as many loans as you need to make up the difference.

Think about a real world example. If you owed $10, why would a $4 loan from the bank be enough to cover that debt?
